Lotto winner goes back to McJob

A National Lottery millionaire has gone back to his old job - at McDonald's.

Luke Pittard, 25, missed workmates after sharing a £1.3million win with girlfriend Emma Cox, reports The Sun.

So he re-applied for his old post as a staff trainer and now gets up at dawn five days a week to earn £5.85-an-hour.

His wages are less than the interest he earns on his winnings.

Luke said: "Everyone thinks I'm mad but I tell them there's more to life than money. I loved working at McDonald's before I became a millionaire and I'm really enjoying being back there again."

Luke and Emma, 29, worked at the same Cardiff branch of the burger chain when they hit the jackpot 18 months ago.

They quit, got married and bought a £230,000 house to share with daughter Chloe, three.

But Luke said: "To be honest there's only so much relaxing you can do. I kept in touch with old workmates so I thought, "Why not go back?""

Luke's manager Katherine Jones said: "We love having him here. It's as if he never went away."

Madge explains early strife

Madonna claims she would have been kicked out of television talent shows like American Idol if she had taken part early in her career.

After years of rejection the 4 Minutes singer eventually made it through and has now been been sharing her early experiences.

Speaking to New York radio station Z100 she said: "I did it the hard way. (I played) in crappy little clubs for years before anybody would even pay any attention to me.

"I (had to) take my tape around to record companies and have them shut the door in my face. It took a long time. I came up the hard way."

As for her chances on American Idol, she added: "I went to a lot of auditions for musical theatre and conventional mainstream things and I always got cut immediately, so I'm pretty sure the same thing would happen to me."

Leona's tonsil trouble

Leona Lewis will be going under the knife to cure a chronic throat problem.

Former X Factor winner Leona is reported to undergo an operation to remove her tonsils after suffering repeated throat infections.

Leona admitted to The Sun: "I've had tonsillitis for the whole of the past week. I've been desperately trying to get better."

A source close to the Hackney-born star added: "She has been told she could need an operation to put an end to the problem. Any operations are scary but for a singer to have a throat op is terrifying."

Usher's Love In This Club is currently occupying the No 1 single position in the US, with Lewis closing on the top spot following a well-received performance on the influential Oprah Winfrey Show.

Playtime for Britney

Britney Spears has been offered a role in a West End play.

Toxic singer Britney could take the lead role of Blanche DuBois in a new production of Tennnessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire.

A source told the Daily Star: "Britney's been on the list for some time but was considered too risky until recently."

The source explained: "We'd wanted her for Blanche because even though she's technically too young too play her, who else could embody this fallen Southern Belle so well?"

Britney impressed many critics and US viewing public last week when she made a cameo acting role in hit Staeside sitcom, How I Met Your Mother.

RAF's birthday bikini

The Royal Air Force is celebrating its 90th anniversary - with a "show-stopping" diamante-encrusted bikini.

The swimwear is part of the RAF Collection's Spring range, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The new range coincides with the RAF's 90th anniversary on April 1. The RAF hopes sales of the bikini, which features diamante roundels, will soar.

A spokeswoman for the RAF Collection said: "The collection will enable the next generation to own a piece of one of the United Kingdom's most prestigious brands."

In RAF colours, the bikini top retails at £20, while the bottoms are £15. Sizes are available in 8 to 18.

The RAF Collection website, which sells the bikini online, describes it as a "show-stopping bikini which will make anyone's head turn, yet which is distinctly tasteful and flattering to the figure".

Some of the money raised by the licensing of the collection will support the RAF free museums, helping to preserve the history of the RAF.

Group Captain Andy Turner, communications director of the RAF, said the merchandising campaign helps promote understanding and awareness.

"By associating our brand marks, including the RAF logo, on high-end leisure products, we build up our image around the UK and globally and, just as importantly, bring us to the attention of young people who are the next generation of RAF personnel," he said.
